Questlove Relaunches Digital-Only Record Label Okayplayer

Questlove of the legendary Roots Crew today announced the relaunch of digital-only record label Okayplayer Records.

Founded in 1999, Okayplayer has worked with some of the greats in the music industry including Common, Erykah Badu, D’Angelo, Mos Def and Jilly from Philly also known as Jill Scott.

Since its initial launch Okayplayer has expanded into other digital platforms like Okayplayer TV, an online store and live production that produces the annual Roots Picnic held in Philadelphia and the launch of four sister sites.

After eight years Okayplayer Records will make a comeback with Atlanta rapper and producer Danny! and recording engineer Young Guru. Artist and producer will be dropping digital albums sooner than later. Danny!’s Payback is set to release next month on Sept. 25 and an instrumental album of breakbeats from Young Guru  Essentials Vol 1 will follow shortly after Oct. 9th.

Danny!’s Payback will be the first album to realease on Okayplayer since its 2004  compilation album True Notes Vol 1. 

Questlove tells Billboard, “I’m excited for what the future holds for Okayplayer Records and look forward to releasing more great projects over the next few years.
