Global Grind Cleans Up

Yesterday Global Grind cleaned up its interface making the content on the site easier to navigate.  They also stepped up their widget game a bit with the release of 2 additional widgets that can be found in a users profile.  The widgets allow a user to syndicate content that they have submitted on Global Grind or content they have favorited on the site, check ours here:

iGoogle tries sexy and hip with Artist Themes

Though I have been dedicated to Netvibes for a while now I may be making a switch back to iGoogle. Not long ago we covered Netvibes’ launch of Ginger, it’s not shabby by any means and also has lots of cool features, but if you are looking for a start page that can match your personal style or clothes you may want to consider switching to iGoogle. Why you ask? iGoogle recently launched (not sure exactly when but I just noticed it yesterday) Artist Themes. Artist Themes are basically skins by fashion designers and artists. SplashCast Corp Closes $4 million Series A

SplashCast Corp. has raised a $4 million Series A round of funding, the company plans to blend advertising with the viral effects of social media. The company openly boasts on its site that it has served some 260 million videos already. “Brands have to do that if they want to stay relevant to that younger demographic,” Chief Executive Michael Berkley said. “Banner ads just aren’t working. The demographic has become very cynical about advertising.”

“This is a land grab,” Berkley said. “There is a tremendous opportunity out there, so we really need to scale on the sales side and marketing.” (more…)

FriendFeed=Twitter on steroids

Google has created what I term a “Twitter on steroids” tool called FriendFeed. It consolidates your shared feed reader items, blog posts, youtube clips, flickr stream,etc into one RSS streamable feed. You may also share it on your Facebook profile page. (more…)

Get Your Thrillercast: 25 Years of Michael Jackson’s Thriller

Michael Jackson - Thriller 25In the event of bringing people closer to celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Michael Jackson’s Thriller, Legacy Recordings teamed up with SpringWidgets to create Thrillercast, a year-long podcast event featuring legends of music, film and culture taking you behind the scenes to their own experiences with Michael and hearing the album for the first time. Thrillercast launches on February 12th with Run-DMCs Darryl McDaniels.

The 40-episode podcast will run throughout 2008 and feature icons of music and screen, including Akon, Nick Cannon, Kanye West, Chris Brown, will.i.am, Quincy Jones, Imogen Heap, choreographers Shane Sparks and Mia Michaels, turntablist DJ Spooky as well as many more special guests. Each guest sat down with us to discuss their experiences with Thriller, the various singles and videos, and its influence on them, both personally and professionally. Their stories are each unique and profound and singular in their message: Thriller was a game-changer across the board. (more…)
