I’ve been playing around with the new Facebook layout a lot this week, and while I initially did not like it, I think it’s slowly growing on me. Last week, Facebook announced that the new layout was available to every user, if they logged into a new location. Take a look for yourself by logging in here.

Our First Impressions: We are excited to be able to try a new product with you and it looks like it might be quite fun. You can sync the service with your Twitter account in addition to the things we are already use to like following friends and embedding on other sites.
I applied for an invite to join this new site (it’s invite only public alpha with 500 invites), 12seconds.tv that I found through a Tweet from DarlaMack. I haven’t received an invite yet, but hopefully I will soon. I can’t wait to jump in an play around. As the name implies, the site features 12 second video clips from users, kind of like a twitter, but for video, and optimized for mobile users (you know I love that!). They were so inspired by Twitter that even on their Terms of Service Page, they do a shout out to Twitter. (more…)
While at Blogging While Brown we got a chance to interview Tamera Reynolds who is the brains behind Black Life. She gave us a little more info on what exactly Black Life is and the goals for the channel. My name is Fredric Mitchell and I am a professional web developer and engineer, dabbling in the blogosphere over at YBP Guide and Nerdliness, and newly proud father and husband.
Fredric will be contributing to a new segmant called Jargon. Jargon will get into more technical discussions for all you hard core coders out there. His second post is called “Wordpress, SSH, and FTP” and will immediately follow this one. You may have already seen his first contribution on the new search engine Cuil. Glad to have ya Fredric! 
So, to much fanfare, $30 million dollars in venture capital funds, multiple TechCrunch stalkerage, and even CNN frontpage coverage, a former Google exec’s secret product was officially unveiled today.
Pronounced like the world ‘cool’, cuil.com is touting itself as a better search engine, proclaiming to have indexed more than 4x’s the number of sites than Google.
