NewME Accelerator Launches First Pop-Up Location in Miami, Florida

NewME Accelerator announced that it will run a “Pop-Up” program in Miami Nov. 12-14  in partnership with the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and The LAB Miami. NewME Pop-Up is a concentrated three-day version of the start-up accelerator held in San Francisco.

The program will allow Miami ‘s tech startups to gain critical advice, hands-on classes and access to local and national resources.

“We’re excited to take NewME on the road to Miami. The city’s rich culture and diverse demographic couldn’t be a better fit for NewME’s focus on accelerating underrepresented tech talent,” said Angela Benton, founder & CEO of NewME Accelerator. “Additionally, partnering with two leading local organizations, Knight Foundation and The LAB Miami, and taking this from idea to execution so quickly has been a true testament to the start-up culture that already exists there.”

“At Knight we seek to help ignite the startup culture in Miami, to foster a greater sense that Miami is a place where ideas are built,” said Matt Haggman, Miami Program Director at Knight Foundation. “Key to that is ensuring a diverse base of innovators have access to opportunities such as NewME to learn, connect and grow.”

The local Miami tech scene are equally excited about the partnership.  Wifredo Frenandez, co-Founder of The LAB Miami commented on the endeavor. “We believe a partnership with NewME Accelerator will help catalyze new ideas and ventures within the Miami tech community.  We are excited to see the product of this experiment.”

Participants can expect a full agenda including one-on-one coaching sessions, Master Class instruction that tackle crafting and presenting the best pitch deck, and a Demo Day hosted at The Light Box. A limited number of slots will be available and advance registration is required; interested start-ups can sign-up at http://newmeaccelerator.com/events-popups

Miami is the first place the NewMe Pop-Up Accelerator will launch in the country. In the future, NewME Pop-UPs  will be held in cities around the country with selection order for the next Pop-Up Accelerator location announced through the NewME Communities Meetup channels.
