NYC Just Got More Access, Converts 10 Payphones into Free WiFi Hotspots
When you pass by a payphone do you wonder – why is that still here? Well you might not have to ask that question any more, at least not in New York.
New York City has officially launched a program to bring free public Wi-Fi to payphones across the city. As of today, there are 10 Wi-Fi kiosk locations in three boroughs including Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan with plans to expand to all boroughs.
This is a way for NYC to modernize the city and keep up with its reputation of being one of the leading tech cities in the country.
Kudos to the city of New York for turning something that people rarely use into something we actually need… INTERNET!
This could be helping more people than they know. Those unable to afford internet service rely on free Wi-Fi to access the Internet. Having more access to hotspot locations could help those with limited plans or those without it at all.
Now to get this program in all cities.
What do you think about the NYC’s program?
