As the NBA Finals set record high rating, the NBA is trying to take its digital following to the next level too with the first ever NBA Social Media Awards.
Shaquille O'Neal will host the event today, June 20 at 9 p.m. EST on NBATV where players will be recognized in addition to teams and fans who excelled at leveraging social media for engagement and entertainment this NBA season.
According to Mashable, more than 350 current and former NBA players are on Twitter. Counting official league, team and player profiles, the league claims more than 277 million combined Facebook likes and Twitter follows.
