New York Based Tech Company Worldcast Inc. Bringing Entertainment To You Live Online
Minority founders Peter Lewis and Darren Skeete found their own way of combining two of the largest industries; technology and entertainment with their company Worldcast, Inc.
Worldcast is an on demand media platform that streams live entertainment from anywhere in the world online. The platform will offer three components including, DJ On Demand, Entertainers On Demand and Event on Demand.
DJ on Demand was the first product to launch in 2011. Being a DJ himself, Skeete was able to conceptualize a solution to a problem most DJs face, which is being in multiple places at the same time.
Many DJs overbook themselves or have to turn down gigs because of time conflicts, but Worldcast allows you to DJ in one location and stream it live to anyone online. While DJ on Demand has the potential to increase the revenue of the DJ, it also cuts the costs for the person seeking entertainment. DJs won’t have to travel and bring equipment to the venue therefore the asking price will most likely be significantly lower.
It’s pretty simple. DJs create an account and those looking for a DJ go on to find someone that best fits their event. All negotiations as far as cost, time, etc. are handled online.
Some may not be fond of having a DJ on a big projector opposed to in the same room mixing and scratching, but unlike its competitors Ustream, Justin.tv, and other live streaming networks; Worldcast has two way communication capabilities allowing live interaction from both parties, giving it a more personal and real experience.
The same concept will apply for Entertainers on Demand and Events on Demand. The events portion hasn’t launched but Lewis and Skeete plan for it to be a way to stream live events like concerts straight to your computer or mobile phone.
The mobile app is currently available for iPhone users and is schedule to hit the Android market next month. Users have the ability to browse the event, entertainer, or DJ; book it, and chat in real time via the app.
The next steps for Worldcast are to launch the remaining platforms and seek funding from potential investors.
