President Obama to Renew #40Dolllars Campaign on Twitter

President Obama and his adminstration used a Twitter campaign in Dec. 2011 to let average citizens share what the value of $40 meant to them. The White House is relaunching that same campaign today.

The social media initiative represented the potential $40 that would be cut from people’s weekly pay with the Republican tax proposal. Twitter users from around the country shared how losing $40 would affect them.

President Obama is looking for the same response he received last year. The campaign was trending on Twitter worldwide within 45 minutes of the White House announcement and generated 6,000 tweets per hour.

The president addresses the renewed #40dollars campaign in a 40-second YouTube video. Supporters should use the #40dollars hash tag or make comments on the White House Website.
