Google Looking to Minority Students for Diversity Internship Program
Applications for the Google BOLD diversity internship program are now live!
This past summer was Google’s largest batch of interns for the BOLD Diversity internship program. They are now in search of applicants for this coming summer.
This program is designed to provide exposure to the technology industry for students who are historically under-represented in this field. Indicated in studies past and present, the group most under-represented is African-Americans.
Although, currently there are not many black faces in this industry, programs such as this prepares minorities for careers in technology and exposes them to the different cultures that play major roles in the digital space, including their own.
The internship is a great opportunity for students from diverse backgrounds to learn from the best at the tech giant. It is specifically for students who are not looking to work in development/engineering but the business aspects of a technology company which are areas equally important to the success and growth of Google.
Departments include sales, marketing, people operations and finance across 11 offices in North America. Interns will work on challenging projects and participate in employee resource groups such as the Black Googlers Network and the Gayglers.
BOLD is available to sophomores and juniors currently studying at a four year university in the U.S or Canada. This is the chance for students to contribute to a company that has changed the way the world obtains information.
