Uplift Inc. Hosts Mobile/ Desktop Technology Summer Camp for Parents
Uplift Inc. is hosting a Mobile/ Desktop Technology Summer Camp for Parents at John R. King Performing Arts School, a k-8 Detroit Public School for the month of July. Parents will have access to
4 – 2 hour classes a week for 4 weeks.
The goal of the summer camp is to educate parents on how to utilize business and academic technology to engage their students academically at home during non-school hours. Teaching the parents is a great start in helping bridge the digital divide. Children are constantly learning from their parents, so it’s imperative that not only are kids learning within their schools but their households as well.
The students, who have exposure to fun engaging academic related activities at home, tend to perform better in classes and on standardized exams as they apply concepts in everyday life. These classes will be taught in dual formats – desktop computer and mobile phone.
Uplift, Inc.’s president Ida Byrd-Hill will be leading this summer program. She brings nearly two decades of experience as a financial advisor, executive search consultant and human resources coordinator to her expertise in urban economics and educational advocacy.
