Sketchworks Tackling Online Interactive Marketing

With the boom in startups and people taking the entrepreneurial approach, there is one important thing that is absolutely necessary; marketing. Sketchworks is taking marketing and the web to help companies with that aspect of their business.

Sketchworks is a black owned interactive marketing company founded by Mark Kennedy in 2007. Alongside the Creative Director of the company Benson Mensah -Bonsu, they work together to build company’s online presence through digital marketing strategies.

Having worked with several large companies such as the US Postal Service, Washington Post, and Newsweek both Kennedy and Mensah-Bonsu realized they wanted to narrow their focus solely to the small business market. In working with small businesses, especially startups they are able to really delve into creating more unique concepts that will increase the company’s visibility on the web.

As an interactive media agency some of their services include web development, social media strategy, online branding, and online advertising with the goal to help businesses grow and top their competition.

The Sketchworks team pride themselves in paying attention to detail. Recognizing that in their business it can’t just be about the aesthetics, although important, other factors such as massive research are what make their marketing campaigns successful. “There’s always a reason why we are doing something says Mensah-Bonsu. Right down to the type of font we use.”

Sketchworks current clients and projects include street basketball player Pat The Roc and Sportsality, a new online sports magazine.

Kennedy and Mensah-Bonsu consider themselves problem solvers in the online marketing world. In the future Mensah-Bonsu sees them continuing to work with more sports projects with young athletes as he sees much potential in that area.

Kennedy, being the more tech forward end of the company is interested in seeing exactly where technology will be in the next few years. “I want to see how the web works in the future, says Kennedy. I want to be one of the first to take advantage of the new technologies that emerge personally and for Sketchworks.”
