Friday Follies: “Follow U On Twitter”

And now for a dose of T.G.I.F. levity, we take you to rappers Twista and Cam’ron who currently have a song circulating on the Net. Called “Follow U On Twitter,” the song espouses the joys of computer love circa 2010. In the vein of producer Jazzy Pha’s “Myspace Freak,” Bow Wow’s “Shortie Like Mine,” and Lil’ Kim’s “Download” featuring Charlie Wilson and T-Pain, Twista and Cam are bigging up Twitter as the latest and greatest technological marvel to get in contact with your boo, shortie, wifey, or whatever people are calling their significant others these days.

So how’s the song? Aside from the Velveeta hook, “I get an updates on your tweets, seven days a week, can’t wait until we speak, but until then I’ll follow you on Twitter!”, the songs decent. Twista delivers his usual lightening fast cadence to talk about enjoying retweeting his boo’s thoughts and feelings. He even has enough time to name check Facebook, Skype, and MySpace, but rest assured, it’s all about Twitter in 2010. Cam is usual Cam, rapping about the downside of the popular micro-blogging service, accusing a love interest of “Twitter Stalking,” which coincidently caused R&B diva Monica to abandon Twitter recently.

While the song isn’t groundbreaking in lyrics or message it’s a fun distraction to make Friday go a little faster as we finish up the work day and prepare for the weekend.
