Introducing Limbe Labs

Located in central West Africa, on the shores of the seaside town of Limbe, Limbe Labs is a technology consulting and outsourcing business. Limbe Labs defines themselves as “a group of idealists and technologists united with local partners to contribute to the growing knowledge-based economy in Cameroon and greater Central and West Africa.” They have established a socially-responsible for-profit consulting and outsourcing firm that provides opportunities, work experience and training for recent graduates and young engineers to start them on a successful career path in IT.

Within the consulting arm of the company, Limbe Labs focuses on three different “spheres” as they like to describe it: Enterprise Solutions, Telecommunications, and Small to Medium Businesses. Enterprise solutions include creation and activation of Managed Call Centers, Disaster Planning and Recovery, Customer Relationship Management (CRM). Telecommunications services include the standard VOIP options, SMS delivery and logistics and Interactive Voice Response. Small and Medium Businesses can get assistance with Data Recovery, Staff Training and IT Assessment and Planning. Limbe also offers their services to non-governmental organizations at a discount.

The Outsourcing division of Limbe Labs has two definitive competencies. First is the small to medium enterprises which includes a modern designed website with a customer friendly Content Management System (CMS). Second is the Enterprise level which uses experience with Microsoft, Visa and IBM to deliver custom application design and development for customers.

Limbe Labs is also much more than a business. Over this past summer, they helped to organize and sponsor a successful BarCamp Cameroon 2010. This event had over 200 participants and launched numerous ventures such as Camerborn (a social network for Cameroonians), and a mobile app SMS store (which Limbe also funds as well).

It is very clear that Limbe Labs has their finger on the pulse of the young but growing technology industry in Cameroon. It is clear that with aggressive interaction from sponsors such as Citrix Systems, IBM and Ubuntu, Limbe Labs has the foundation to grow a while new class of entrepreneurs who are positioned to have success within African and all over the world.
