GetGlue Gets Stuck on iPad

GetGlue continues to move forward with their social network for entertainment by announcing the release of their iPad app today. Fresh off a release of an Android app, GetGlue caters to iPad nation by releasing a quality app that can check-in to their favorite shows, music, movies and books, and see what their friends are enjoying in real-time. Below is a list of features for the iPad app:

  • Check-in to tv shows, movies, music, games, and books
  • Share check-ins with your Twitter and Facebook friends
  • See what your friends are currently watching, reading or listening to
  • Earn leaderboard points and get stickers from GetGlue and major brands
  • Rate lists of popular shows, movies, music and books
  • Get suggestions for weekly new releases and old favorites picked just for you
  • Take your favorite entertainment and suggestions with you everywhere

For those of you who are GetGlue veterans, these features are to be expected. However, GetGlue stated that they went through an intense review and testing process with this app to maximize the larger screen and native UI for the iPad while maintaining consistency with the iPhone version. It is clear that GetGlue has high expectations for this app as they have made the “entertainment check-in” experience more immersive and a stimulant to conversation while using your iPad. Basically, it now becomes fun to interact with your friends about any book, movie, tv show or song you are feeling at the moment.

Add in actual rewards and prizes from some of my favorite shows and you could have me venturing onto eBay to search for a nicely priced iPad. GetGlue has one new partnership with FOX, and broadened partnerships with HBO, Showtime, PBS and Universal Pictures. “Glee” fans rejoice! You can earn special Glee badges and stickers by checking in. As far as I am concerned, the “Weeds” badge and sticker (I hope crazy Nancy Botwin is on the sticker) and the brand new “Dexter” stickers are on my radar. HBO fans, take a quick peek at “Boardwalk Empire” (Omar from “The Wire” is in this show) and “Eastbound and Down” to earn new badges. PBS also has a nice variety of shows participating with GetGlue.

GetGlue continues to strengthen existing partnerships as well as add new and exciting shows to their family. This bodes well for the service which averages more than five million check-ins per month. A staggering number indeed. To download the app, click here. Take it for a spin and let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
