Android “Froyo” Finally Lands on the HTC Evo Next Week
According to an internal Sprint memo, the HTC Evo 4G smartphone will be the first phone to get the much anticipated Android 2.2 “Froyo” Operating System. The T-Mobile Google Nexus One phone WAS the first phone to upgrade to Froyo, but due to the fact that Google couldn’t quite work out the kinks and more importantly, less than stellar sales numbers, Google halted all sales and stopped production. So I should say that the Evo is the first production Android phone to get the update.
Semantics aside, the memo further indicated that not all Evo owners will get the upgrade on August 3rd. They plan on pushing out the upgrade in phases over the next couple of weeks.
Here are just some of the goodies that will come with the Froyo upgrade:
- User interface upgrades
- Improved browser performance
- Flash 10x Support
- Application storage on memory (SD Cards)
It’s only a matter of time after the Evo that the other popular Android phones (Can someone say Motorola Droid X) will get the upgrade as well.
