New Wi-Fi Only Kindle Ships August 27th
Not really feelin’ the price tag of the iPad (even with all its “Magical” features), but wished other devices like the Amazon Kindle stepped their e-book reader game up? Well, look no further as Amazon was listening and responded with a new Kindle with some much appreciated hardware and software upgrades.
The first features that potential buyers will notice are the fact that the Kindle now comes in two colors and two configurations. In addition to the original white, there will now be a graphite color. The new Wi-Fi only version will run you $189, and with the 3G version (running on AT&T, ugh) will go for $189 when it they are released on August 27th.
The new Kindle must have the P90X series at home, because the Kindle is now 21 percent smaller and 15 percent lighter than the previous model. Here are the other points from Amazon’s website, where you can preorder both the Wi-Fi only and 3G versions now.
- All-New, High-Contrast E-Ink Screen (no glass, no glare)
- One Month Battery Life
- 20 Percent Faster Refresh Rate
- Larger 4GB storage with
- Free Automatic Archive from Amazon
Both Kindles still come with the 6 inch screen and other features include reading your books on all of your Kindle devices. So that means whether you have a Kindle device, or downloaded the Kindle app on other devices like the iPhone, iPad, Android & BlackBerry, you can rest assured your library will be at your fingertips.
If you are in the market, I suggest you put in your preorder sooner than later and hope that Amazon has learned from the mistakes other mobile device manufacturers have made as of late, and stocked enough Kindles so they won’t have to shut down pre-orders or push back deliver dates, or change the paint scheme of the new graphite color.
Which reminds me, I wonder if Apple is dying to get its hands on the new Kindle so they can test it for the ‘death grip’ feature they claim is running ramped in ALL mobile devices*
