Apple Store Goes Down, New Tech Pops Up
History has shown that when the Apple Store site goes down for “updates” nothing but Apple goodies await the guy that keeps on pressing the F5 key.
Sure enough, the site was down this morning (I know because I just bought a refurbished MacBook Pro and was trying to get tracking info). While the site was down, as you can imagine, the net was ablaze with speculations of what was going to be unveiled.
Most of the speculations proved to be correct as in addition to updated processors in iMacs, and a larger 27″ Apple LED Cinema Display with widescreen, Apple’s flagship Mac Pro and the brand-spankin’ new Magic Trackpad made their appearance.

First up is the new Mac Pro with its faster ATI graphics card, easy-access expansion capabilities and the ability to add up 12 processors. “The new Mac Pro is the most powerful and configurable Mac we’ve ever made. With up to 12 cores, the new Mac Pro outperforms our previous top-of-the-line system by up to 50 percent, and with over a billion possible configurations, our customers can create exactly the system they want” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. For all you heavy computer guys with deep pockets, you can pick up a quad core Mac Pro starting at around $2500 bucks all the way up to $5 grand starting for the 12-core processor and will be available in August.

Next, but certainly not least, is the highly anticipated Magic Trackpad that gives any Mac desktop user multi-touch and gesture capabilities found on the MacBook Pro. It is wireless (Bluetooth) so you don’t have to worry about more wires coming from you Mac setup and Apple states that you can use it in conjunction or in place of your mouse. You can pick up the Magic Trackpad on sale now for $69 bucks.
Those are the biggies, but there are certainly more Easter Eggs throughout the Apple Store, so take some time to see what you can see (Get your credit card ready).
