Fashionistas Rejoice!: Clutch Launches Coco & Crème

It’s a good day for fashion and beauty. Today online web property Clutch Magazine made the announcement that it has just launched the next arm in its digital strategy, Coco & Crème. According the press release, this new website will focus exclusively on beauty and fashion for women of color. After conducting an online survey ,Clutch Founder and Creative Director Dede Sutton found that 95% of the respondents wanted to see Clutch cover more beauty and fashion. With such an overwhelming response, it was only a matter of time before Coco & Crème came to fruition.

Those familiar with Clutch, should expect a bold, engaging design as well an intuitive user-interface.  There will also be a steady stream of original content thanks to the newly assembled team of editors including Audra E. Lorde and Geneva S. Thomas. There will be hair and makeup tips straight from industry insiders as well as designer and model profiles. There will also be weekly features for plus-size women and commentary on the representation of black women in the world at large. Targeting plus-size fashion is a great look for the site. The plus-sized woman has been repeatedly overlooked in larger publications, so this can work in the new publication’s favor by bringing in page views.

“It’s almost impossible to find a publication that doesn’t either overshoot your age or budget or completely
overlook your race,” says Audra E. Lorde, Coco & Crème Senior Fashion Editor. “Coco & Crème gets it. It’s what you and your girlfriends are dishing about over cocktails; it’s that bag you’ve been coveting for weeks; it’s the insider tips you’ve been eager to gain.
For those ready to get their daily fashion fix, Coco & Crème is now live. While you’re there, be sure to check out the article “Vogue Africa Rejected by Condé Nast”,“Weaves 101: Ten Tips Your Stylist Won’t Tell You”, and the letter from Sutton where she humbly thanks readers and supporters and announces her goal for the magazine.
“What we have accomplished with your love and encouragement is nothing short of a miracle. I hope to make Coco & Crème one of the top destinations for Black women who are obsessed with fashion and beauty.”
