Breaking: Microsoft Kills Kin
What’s @questlove gonna do now?
Microsoft decided to halt work on its Kin phone and focus on developing and launching its Windows Phone 7, which is scheduled to be released for Holiday 2010.
The company has stopped all plans to ship the Kin over to Europe. And this past weekend, Verizon slashed the prices of its two models of Kin in half, which explains why I saw the Kin ad featuring @questlove about 491 times during a marathon of Greek (don’t ask).
Kin debuted two months ago in San Francisco and “was the result of several years of work by Microsoft and stemmed from its acquisition of Sidekick maker Danger.”
CNET reports,

Roz Ho, the Microsoft executive who lead the unit that developed the Kin will over see the transition of the team and then move to an as-yet-determined role at the company, according to a source.

They need to just focus on Xbox and build from there. Kinect looks good, keep attacking the living room.
Microsoft took one step to the side, and two steps back with the Kin. They just need to stick with the Windows 7 platform (or whatever they are calling it these days) and TRY to compete with Apple's App Store and Android Marketplace
