Meet Alexis: Alicia Keys’ New Head Blogger

Last Friday, Alicia Keys selected the winner of the I Am A Superwoman contest. Partnered with Monster.com, the artist put out a call for a Head Blogger for her I Am A Superwoman website. After weeding through thousands of resumes, and applicants. Alicia Keys and her company AK Worldwide have selected Alexis Tirado to take on the extremely enviable position. As Head Blogger, Tirado will be tasked with provided the editorial voice for IAAS.com , an online community with the purpose of uplifting and empowering women.

Tirado was informed of the decision on June 25, after being flown to London with the remaining two finalists, to attend a flurry of events and write their last blog posts before the final decision. According to the press release, Tirado previously served as an online editor. While in the position she increased page views 500 percent. She is also a freelance writer and has contribute to well-known publications including Village Voice, Latina, and Time Out New York.

Speaking on her incredible win, Tirado said, “People have told me that dream jobs don’t exist but today I can defy that statement. As Langston Hughes once wrote, ‘Hold fast to your dreams, for without them life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly.’ When Alicia Keys launched her search with Monster.com for a head blogger, I read the job description and knew I had to apply for it! Blogging about inspiring people? Bringing positive news to Super Women everywhere? Initiating a powerful discussion? What’s not to love about this job?”

We’ll get our first taste of Tirado’s vision in fall of 2010 when the site is scheduled to launch. For now, users can sign up to take part in the upcoming beta testing of the site.

I followed this contest. I really think another girl should have won. I was shocked actually that Alexis Tirado won instead of the applicant who was a better writer and seemed much more suited for the position. Amanda Green should have won.

Congrats to Alexis. but i think that the whole google me and facebook and all is highly over rated. its to much private info on there that can easily be accessed. i was watching the view and they were saying something about how when you sign up for them you are actully at risk of someone else being abel to get all your info
