Apple’s on Fire! Three Million iPads Sold
Apple continues to maintain its chokehold on the tech game. Amidst all the iPhone 4G pre-order drama that sent AT&T servers to their needs, which all but guarantees the will be sold out when it officially goes on sale on June 24th. Apple has just released the news that they’ve sold three million iPads in less than three months.
The popular touchscreen tablet has been flying off store shelves. When I went to purchase one at the NYC Apple store on 5th Avenue, I was promptly informed by the pimply-faced attendant that they were sold out. I was also informed that I would have to make a reservation to buy the iPad and there was a waiting list of about a week. Let’s just say, I left the store more than a little miffed.
According to the press release, developers have created over 11.000 apps for the wunderkind machine and it can run the 225,000 apps current available in the app store.
“People are loving iPad as it becomes a part of their daily lives,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “We’re working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more people around the world, including those in nine more countries next month.”

I heard that on the radio the other day, Eric. But, gee, sounds like a post. You should write it for us. lol
Speaking of going global, I heard an interesting fact about touch tech and iPad, which is that different cultures have varied “touch languages” and that has become an issue for iPad. Some cultures, for instance, think pointing is rude. Others can't figure how to stretch photos because their nature is to pinch instead of drag. HP has apparently launched a whole group to study the dynamic of cultural touch language and how tablets must respond going forward. Really intriguing.
I tried to buy mine in a store as well. No luck. I had to buy it online and it took 3 weeks to get here. But it was definitely well worth the wait!
