Start Your Own Social Network in Seconds With Stribe
by AmaniAre you ready to develop a community within your own website? Stribe engages site visitors instantly and allows social interactions after an easy 5-minutes plug-and-play registration and configuration process, which can be fully customized and freely branded. Using easy copy-and-paste javascript, Stribe offers blog, casual gaming or even e-commerce site administrators the ability to create their own customizable, freely-branded social network for their sites. Through the Stribe network service, a site’s community can interact on all Stribe-enabled sites, allowing members to stay connected with their “tribes” or online communities.
The main competitors for Stribe are Ning, socialthing and meebo. The key feature that sets Stribe apart from its competition is that once installed on your website, your Stribe network service allows a site’s community to interact with other communities on all Stribe-enabled sites. This is huge because it allows for a “cross-pollination” of members to and from your site to other communities. There is a “freemium” version available as well as a Premium version. Stribe’s business model is based on selling premium modules including analytics such as the Stribe Back-Office, which provides all key metrics on the site’s community including social metrics, breakdown of users and their engagement times, comment analytics, metrics on ‘hidden activity’ including private chats and messages, and the community’s overall activity.

Worried about who owns the data transmitted on the site? Stribe is only the host for the data and the owner of all the information is the owner of the website. Personally, this type of service is ideal for new websites who are trying to grow and develop their community. A very inexpensive (or free) option that has some strong growth prospects for the future. The ability to send Private Messages, chat via IM, and query an entire community without substantial setup and maintenance costs from your own website is very impressive.
When asked to describe Stribe, the founders describe itself as a new, multidimensional social layer interface which brings together local communities in a globally shared environment. In the future, the company plans to release their API for web developers and develop more premium models. Visit the home website and sign up to get access to the service. Also, take a look at the live demo on this video. There is some cool features included in this demo.

facebook/google/twitter integration? people are inundated with new social networks everyday…the winners will be those that leverage existing social identities.
Amani says:
@DocDre – I do know that you can use Facebook to login to the site via FB connect. The founder did speak about facebook in his pitch and said that no specific integration is there now because they want to see where people are coming from and get some better analytical information. This could change in the future. Thanks for your comment!

@powerpeople Thanks for your post about Stribe ! You have perfectly understood that we are designing a new social network dimension for websites to let them join web social ring and grab new opportunities for their content and visitors.
In couple month, we'll announce is a BIG BIG news about Stribe and I hope that blackweb20.com will join the network and the Social Media community. ;o)
By the way, we are improving the design and the user experience of the Stribe Interface and
as @Amani and @DocDre suggest, we are integrating all the connect (twitter, myspace, Google, Yahoo) in addition to Facebook Connect which is already available.
Thanks for your support!
Feel free to contact us!

@Kamel Understanding the other big announcement may be coming in about 2 months, what is the approximate time line for delivering the integration points with the other social networks? 3 months? 6 months? While you have somewhat of a first mover advantage, I think in order to seize the opportunity to @DocDre's point, you'll have to deliver on this integration sooner than later. I know of a number of publishers who would adopt this service yesterday if it were available now.
Kamel Zeroual says:
Thanks @Kevin and @DocDre for your comments. We are already working on Social Network integration and it's going to be available very soon. We do want to leverage existing social identities to let people create more real time conversations.
The big announcement is about something bigger ;o) (hopefully)
