New Tech “Cool Leaf” Hopes To Change The Game

Dubbed “Cool Leaf” — the overall flat input device can be used in the form of keyboards, remote controllers, and calculators — just to name a few.

In collaboration with Design Director, Kazuo Kawasaki, Ph. D., the “Cool Leaf” features a design in which all of the key tops are removed. Removing the hassle of cleaning such things like the keys of your keyboard, the “Cool Leaf” adopts a single board, making the surface easier to clean, and utilizes an innovative design in which the keys appear on its mirror panel.

The light guide plate-type is the backlight making functionality more streamlined. Look for this product to creep its way into the mainstream as tech and gadgets give nerdgasms to more and more folks. It’s stylish look may appeal to those Mac/Apple fans out there, but as of right now this product seems to be focused on those within the medical field and home theaters alike.

The “Cool Leaf” is one of the first developed products that have combined Minebea’s cross-sectional collective strengths (horizontal strength) making this adoption a success. Adding an input mechanism that has combined the electrostatic capacity type touch panel with a load sensor is truly some groundbreaking tech.

In a more practical sense imagine no longer having to worry about issues like hand discomfort or carpal tunnel because your keyboard would be even and form-fitting. “Cool Leaf” looks to jump leaps and bounds over average tech and while Minebea will continue to further develop the product and its purpose to customers — this will be one that looks to merge itself as an input device for digital devices, telecommunication equipment, housing equipment, and medical equipment.

Frosted Flake says:

How many folks use that 10 key? Show of hands? No One? That is what I thought.

Note to Dr. Kawasaki, great design, except there is a 10 key unit taking up the space that is supposed to host a pointing device, be it Mouse, rollerball or touchpad. My keyboard doesn't have that. Why does yours?

Note two : One in ten or so is a lefty. Build boards with a pointer over there, too. Even better, build touchscreen boards that can be configured by the owner. Then left and right is the same board and GAMES…'nuff said?
