Tiger Woods’ 15 Minute Announcement Draws 683,000 Views
Sigh, maybe its a slow news day or we as a culture truly have no viable lives of our own. A few hours ago Tiger Woods gathered a group of close friends and family in a room complete with television cameras. The press conference that wasn’t a press conference but was featured as a suited Woods issuing what many news pundits and Twitter folk alike deemed a scripted, calculated play to sweep his ongoing drama under the rug.
According to Mashable, during Woods’ 15 minute speech, 683,000 people watched the spectacle on Ustream. Hulu and Livestream also went in on the streaming, but they haven’t posted their numbers as of yet. As the world’s richest athlete repeatedly apologized to his wife, friends, and fans, the Twitterverse was alive with folks weighing in on everything from whether or not he can make a comment or if this fiasco was even deserving of media attention.
The shenanigans got even better. Joslyn James, one of the mistresses in Tiger’s stable felt the need to continue sucking the life out of her fifteen minutes and in a tear-filled diatribe asked for a apology from the golf star. BTW, this is former porn star that was allegedly pregnant with Woods’ baby…twice. At this time I’m going to let the Cricket Chorus take over.
I’m not going to lie, I was watching the sorry affair and tweeting with the rest of the folk, eyes rolling with the time wasted, but intrigued at the comments flying on Twitter. I love what social media and live-streaming is doing to change the face of news. This isn’t one of these times. The only good things that came out of our fifteen minutes with Tiger is that he was probably able to assuage some of his guilt. The other is the wide range of commentary that the event caused. In my twitter stream I saw opinions on marriage and fidelity, athletes and their behavior, there were even some folks that wished that Tiger rocked a bowtie ala Chris Brown. At the end of the day, I can’t be mad at something that causes lively discourse, I just wish it was something more worthwhile.

Does anybody know when the news conference will be for the 19 plus women who had an affair with a married man with children? Will their boyfriends, husbands, children, relatives and friends be in attendance at the conference. Will the tabloids be able to ask questions ? Also, which center are the women going to for sex rehab?
