Meebo Releases an iPhone App … Finally!!
This is a very happy day for loyal Meebo users like myself. They have released their first iPhone application (app) which is now available for free in Itunes. Although Meebo is late in the game for mobile apps, this app could become the preferred IM service for iPhone users very quickly. First of all, compared to two services already available for the iPhone – (BeejiveIM and IM+) Meebo is a great value . The app isĀ free compared to $6.99 and $4.99 for the two other apps. Even the current top ranked IM service in the iTunes store (E-Buddy) should be worried because the product that Meebo released is very high quality and thus far has received very high reviews in the two short days it has been released.
The mobile app looks very similar to the web-based service and is very easy and quick to use. One of the benefits of the Meebo service is the ability to have chat logs from every IM conversation you have across any computer that you use the service with. Well, with the mobile app, these chat logs are synced so they show up on the device and are added to the chat logs when you have a conversation. Brilliant and very useful. The push applications also work very well. A simple tone or vibration notifies you of a response along with a small cloud previewing the next message for you.
Then once you open the app up it will load up the new responses. There is a number that will sit on top of the start screen telling you how many messages you have pending. The user can also adjust your status updates from within the mobile app and can also multi-task as the application runs well in the background. Once inside the application, you can swipe from left to right on your iPhone to move between chats (very cool!). You also get a notification (like the web based version) that tells you when a person is typing a response to you.

Meebo as a service allows you to sync a range of over 60+ instant messaging service (from AIM to Facebook chat to Justin TV to Yahoo). It is missing Skype but I expect that service to be added in the near future. Sign up for an account and sync all your accounts together. I am a big fan of Meebo and have been using the service for over five years now. Please note that in my five years , Meebo has stored my passwords and my account has not been hacked and I have received minimal spam. Download the app and let us know what you think.

I'll check that one out too.
You and me both Lynne. I hear they are working on an update to the Android app too. They just released an update for the iPhone so they are working on maintaining both of them. It is a tight app. I really like it. It was worth the wait I guess.
Personally Im big fan of digsby over meebo.. Coz I started that one earlier.. But seems like I need to kick digsby as meebo going to stay in my iphone
I think this a welcome addition to the communication ring, however I prefer Nimbuzz due to the Skype integration.
Wow I would've thought that they'd have an iPhone app already. They had an Android app for a while. It has some UI issues on the Android though, at least the last time I tried it they did.
yes finally!!!! even though i do not have a iphone. but still finally..Guest
