GRAMMYS Show ‘We’re All Fans’ With Community Bloggers Outreach
Last month, Black Web 2.0 touched on GRAMMY nominee efforts to reach out to their audiences, which has paid off immensely. Now, the GRAMMYs are doing their own form of outreach with their Community Bloggers.
While the GRAMMYs are often criticized by artists and music lovers for not representing public sentiment, this year’s Community Blogger program calls on some of the web’s most popular music bloggers to talk about the nominees and more. What’s more interesting is that over half of the community bloggers are African-Americans. All the Community Bloggers will be attending the 52nd annual GRAMMYs out in Los Angeles as part of their reporting duties.
Kimberly A. Hines (aka Butta), editor-in-chief of SoulBounce, is one of two Blog-At-Large bloggers who will talk about the event in general. SoulBounce — which is also popular among soul artists like Maxwell and Eric Roberson (both Grammy nominees) — also live-tweeted the Grammy nomination concert back in December. Joining Hines as a Blog-At-Large blogger, a Black Web 2.0 favorite, and new media consultant Liz Burr. Burr will discuss the larger topics of social media, digital strategy, and new media with the GRAMMYs.
Podcaster, musician, and producer Dantrel Robinson aka Fave (of the Friday Favecast) will be representing the Rap category in the Community Bloggers program. You can check out his look at rap in 2009 on the GRAMMYs website. Other African-American podcasters include writer Jason Smith (aka macedonia) of Both Sides of the Surface (BSOTS) for the World Music category, systems engineer/musician Doug Ramsay (aka Fresh) of Vibes and Scribes and The Sunday Soundtrack podcast for the Jazz category, music blog pioneer EJ Flavors of the Old School Wednesday podcast for the R&B category, and Darrenkeith Wyatt of My Love For Music for the Gospel category.
