NY Stops Selling the iPhone…Temporarily
The AT&T website has stopped offering phones to the New York metropolitan area, and entering a zipcode from there delivers the message that it is “unavailable” in that area, according to a blog report. AT&T is continuing to sell iPhones in NYC stores.
Not sure why AT&T would ever want to stop selling iPhones in the largest city in the US, but it appears that’s exactly what happened. It still seems unclear exactly what happened and AT&T hasn’t really been very helpful, but it looks like it was either
- Too much strain on the already fragile AT&T network
- Online fraud
- or, from what AT&T told Mashable: “We periodically modify our promotions and distribution channels,” which sounds absolutely ridiculous.
Nexus Preview Video
Speculation abounds about the new Google Nexus phone. With iPhone customers unhappy with AT&T and AT&T making extremely public blunders, a phone from Google could steal away a lot of Apple & AT&T’s customers. It’s rumored that Google plans to preview this as-of-yet-unconfirmed mobile device on the 5th of January, right before CES. All signs seem to point to the fact that Google has purposely leaked information about the Nexus to build buzz. If they don’t end up announcing a phone on the 5th, there are going to be a lot of pissed off geeks out there. Here is a preview video of the Nexus in action to whet your appetite.

Formspring.me Makes Sharing You Easier
I noticed some strange tweets coming from @CathrynMarie and @ThePBG the other night from some service called formspring.me. It looked like they were fielding some pretty interesting questions, but I couldn’t tell who was doing the asking. I finally started playing with it and it seems interesting in it’s simplicity. It lets people ask you questions anonymously. You can also sign up and connect with friends to see what people are asking them. As you might imagine, letting people ask you stuff anonymously can make for some interesting conversation. More details at the Lifestream blog.
