My company is embarking on a new media venture we plan to launch in early Oct. Incite-tv - http://www.ustream.tv/channel/incitetv/v3 - is a web based website that has 24 hour programming. It will focus on North Carolina's indie art scene. In our business plan we were hoping to step up to cable, but as their monthly channel costs increase we are becoming skeptical. I am a former cable coordinator for my County Government (Suddenlink & Time Warner) - I'm glad there is some true competition out ther unforetunatley I need highspeed internet and that provided by cable.

I truly appreciate this concept. With mobile tech making a stronger play and WiMax expanding... I've said fair well to my cable viewing experiences a while ago. Great post @BlackWeb20

For me, it's simple: HD and bandwidth.

Content on the web is compressed and re-compressed multiple times to format a decent experience, on certain web sites, for browsers and monitor sizes.

Watching pixelated and stuttery content on a $2k, LED-lit television completely ruins the viewing experience, especially if you enjoy Blu-ray, only watch the HD channels, and demand non-letterboxed Netflix on-demand.

One day, when the bandwidth opens up and the technology can provide me crystal clear, uninterruptible signal LIKE cable, I'll still commit my $160 a month to the devil (Comcast).
