12 Days of Techmas: GoWear fit Lifestyle and Calorie Management System

12 Days of Techmas: GoWear fit Lifestyle and Calorie Management System

An awesome gift for the health nut in your life check out the GoWear fit Lifestyle and Calorie Management System. Made by Body Media, this nifty little armband is the apparatus used on the hit show, “The Biggest Loser”. It monitors daily activity and calories burned throughout the whole day. So not only is it monitoring your time at the gym, it’s also monitoring that walk to the store, the sprint to catch the subway or bus, it even monitors your sleeping habits.

What’s the point of all this Big Brother tracking? The GoWear takes all this information and loads it to your computer where the BodyMedia FIT Activity Manager logs all the information. You keep track of your weight loss, your activity (or lack thereof), and caloric intake.  From here, you can make realistic weight loss goals. The system even tracks waist circumference. There’s also a section for logging what you ate for the day for a more complete result.

The armband has a pedometer, an accelerometer to gauge physical activity, and a heart rate monitor.  It even takes note of of your skin temperature and galvanic skin response. It’s waterproof so you don’t have to worry about taking a jog in the rain. Prodigious sweaters can also breathe easy. The armband is pretty lightweight at 1.6g, so wearing it on an everyday basis shouldn’t be a hassle. True, the color scheme may not go with many outfits, but this about being healthy not being a fashion maven.

The GoWear fir Lifestyle and Calorie Management System is being sold on Amazon for $180. If you’re interested in gifting the BodyMedia FIT Activity Manager, there is a monthly subscription fee of $6.95. Or you can purchase the armband and a year subscription for only $159 which is decent deal.
