McDonalds Offers Free WiFi in 2010…Will You Dine In?
by AngelaMcDonald’s wants you to stop going through their drive-thru and they’re using free WiFi to lure you in. Not totally true but half right. They just announced on Monday they will be offering free wifi to dine in customers. Feel free to still use the drive-thru but my bet is they want you inside surfing the web with any one of the items off their menu. The company’s CIO David Grooms said “We don’t mind at all if people step in take advantage of the Wi-Fi and linger a bit.” McDonald’s previously offered WiFi for a fee of $2.95 for 2 hours, the service was available in 11k of their 14k stores. News to me. In addition to removing the fee for the service there won’t be a time limit. The wireless service is being made possible through a partnership between McDonlads and AT&T, terms wern’t disclosed.

[...] ♥ I hear MickeyDs (McDonlds) to offer free WiFi in 2010. Will you be dinning in more often? [...]

Depending on how widespread this is, MickeyD's might be one of the few places some folks can get internet access. I'd prefer seeing folks in libraries, parks, or “healthier” locations but sometimes you have to reach people where they are… It's no doubt a business move on their part, but it might also help some people out in the long run.
