National Urban League Chops it Up on Innovation

There has been lots of talk about the National Urban League and the NAACP and what they aren’t doing right on the webWe’ve even talked about their increasing use of social media here on Black Web 2.0.  We got a chance to chat with Patrick Gusman who is the Chief Innovation Officer at NUL, he told us more about exactly what his role is at NUL since he has been there this past year.  He also discusses the plans he has for NUL in his push to make the organization relevant online.

I agree Rosie and thanks for commenting. I'm sure they'll have something like this planned. We plan to follow the developments on this initiative closely :)

Thanks Roderick! :) I am excited to see how the whole social mobilization effort manifests, it seems extremely interesting and I think it is the most logical way for NUL and others to use the web to revive their messages.

rosie says:

This social mobilization effort is simply visionary. I am also hoping that, in combination with this effort, there is an empowerment of clients via training on social media tools. This will make them prime and ready to access the many services available at the Urban League.
I also hope that there is a hand holding process, slow but sure, for all who may be resistant and unaware of the non-darkside of social media often obtained via myths, etc.

lol. chops it up.

Great Post Angela… I would probably never be aware of information like this, if it wasn't for you guys…Not sure how the Social Mobilization Platform will actually be really effective to our community as a whole, but I am excited to know more about a process to empower a nation… Dude seems to be really cool…

I also really enjoyed the other vids from the Broadband 4 America Co Chair and the FCC Commissioner…
