Tech Week in Review 10-30-09

Google has partnered with LaLa and iLike (owned by MySpace) to bring you enhanced music search. Not only can you preview and purchase music from artists you already like, but you can also use it to discover new artists.
If you’re searching for music, “time to result” is really “time to music.” Now, when you enter a music-related query — like the name of a song, artist or album — your search results will include links to an audio preview of those songs provided by our music search partners MySpace (which just acquired iLike) or Lala.
Twitter Lists Rollout Continues
I finally got access to the new Twitter Lists feature and I must say, I’m slightly underwhelmed. Why? Because I’m not one of the many people who simply accesses Twitter via the official website. I use a third-party client. Until Twitter provides an API and application developers can integrate this new official lists feature, there is no reason for me to use this. Probably the coolest feature is the ability to share lists. So, if you’re like me and have a hard time putting people into groups, you can let someone else do it for you. Can’t wait until the feature seeps into 3rd party clients. That’s when the fun will start.
Is Hulu Going To Start Charging?
My TV remote is definitely collecting dust as Hulu has become one of my most visited sites. Not only can I catch up on current TV shows and events, but I can also get my anime fix or watch reruns. Do I mind the ads? Nope. While they’re running, I just switch to Twitter or FriendFeed (I can still hear them, though). There has been some speculation as to whether Hulu’s current model will remain profitable or if they will have to start charging. With all the time and value Hulu offers for my viewing pleasure, I could definitely see paying a subscription fee for additional features. Maybe getting rid of ads or getting access to more valuable content.
