SocialToo: Your Vaccine For The Social Web

SocialToo is well know as a service to help you manage your Twitter following. They started out offering an auto-dm service, but later reversed their stance and became a service to help you block all auto-dm’s. In response to the frequent Twitter attacks we’ve seen recently, Jesse Stay decided to do something about it.

Starting now, as part of a new premium service we’re offering, anyone who goes to SocialToo and checks the “Send SocialToo DM e-mails” box will no longer receive malicious Direct Messages we detect as rampant on Twitter, as we will be stopping them at their source.  We’re taking a proactive approach to this now, and all our users will not receive those DIrect messages we’ve confirmed are malicious.  For instance, the “hey. I make $300-500 a day online. this website showed me how” DIrect messages that have been flooding the network over the last few days will automatically be deleted from your Twitter DM box and reported to Twitter’s @spam account on your behalf.  Also, the “rofl, this you on here?” DIrect messages will never show up.

You can take advantage of this service for free until November 1st as they’re still working out the details of the new premium service. (via SocialToo Blog)

Google Sync Adds Push Gmail Support

Earlier this year, Google Sync gave you the ability to synchronize your Gmail Contacts and Google Calendar with your iPhone, Windows Mobile, and S60 devices. Now, they’ve added Gmail support.

Using Google Sync, you can now get your Gmail messages pushed directly to your phone. Having an over-the-air, always-on connection means that your inbox is up to date, no matter where you are or what you’re doing. Sync works with your phone’s native email application so there’s no additional software needed. Only interested in syncing your Gmail, but not your Calendar? Google Sync allows you to sync just your Contacts, Calendar, or Gmail, or any combination of the three. (via Google Mobile Blog)
