Turn Your Facebook Photos Into Cash With Udorse
by rahsheenUdorse is an interesting service that launched at TC50. The founders call it a “visual endorsement engine.” It allows you to turn your online photos into real endorsement deals that can earn you money. At the 140tc conference recently, rap artist Chamillionaire (@chamillionaire) asked the others on the panel what they thought about sponsored tweets. As users of social media, we generate all the content for sites like Twitter and Facebook, but who gets paid for us driving traffic to those sites? Definitely not us. Not by default, anyway. Whether you are for sponsored tweets or against them, you must agree that users should get a piece of the pie. Udorse is one solution to this problem. It’s also a unique and innovative approach and plays nice with the whole concept of social media.
To get started, simply login using Facebook connect. Udorse pulls in all of the photos you’ve shared on Facebook, as well as those your friends have shared with you. Now, you can browse through these photos to create your own personal product endorsements or “udorsements.” These will allow you to highlight a place, a product, a service, or anything that you are passionate about. You can then share these udorsements anywhere you like.
Taking things to the next level, Udorse has made partnerships with some major brands. When you choose to endorse those brands in your udorsement (say that 5x fast), you get part of the revenue generated. Let’s say you choose to create a udorsement for Armani Exchange (one of Udorse’s partners). Udorse gets paid whenever someone clicks on your udorsement and, because it’s your photo, you get paid too. They call this “democratized endorsement.” You can have these payments sent directly to your PayPal account, or you can choose to donate them directly to charity via Udorse’s partnership with Network for Good.
Not only can you use Udorse to promote stuff, but you can also use it to find new stuff. Search your network of friends to see what items they felt were worth a udorsement. How much easier will your shopping be when you have glowing recommendations from people you know? I like this service and can’t wait to see how useful it will really be. First thing they’ll need to do is add more partners, though. They currently only have Armani Exchange and American Apparel.
Check out Udorse and tell us what you think. Is it wrong to get paid for your social media activity? Sound off in the comments.
