Make Phone Calls Via Twitter

JaJahTwitterTwitter has come a long way towards becoming a serious communications platform and now, thanks to Jajah, you’ll be able to make VOIP calls directly from Twitter. The Jajah service will be integrated into Twitter as a beta test starting today (9-18-09). All you have to do is sign up for a free account at Jajah.com. Simply Tweet a message starting with “@call” followed by the @username of the person you want to talk to. Jajah will intercept the tweet and connect the call for you. The only catch is that the person you’re calling also needs a Jajah account. The call is free, but limited to 2 minutes.

Digsby Kills Ads And Becomes Hottest Facebook Desktop Client

Digsby, while remaining the premier muli-protocol desktop IM/social media client, has also caught a lot of flack for their revenue model. The installation was peppered with ads and toolbars. After getting a lot of user feedback, they’ve trimmed this down, overhauling the installer in their latest release (Build 65, r24143). They also added MySpaceIM integration to their arsenal and completely redesigned the Facebook newsfeed, making it comprehensive and completely interactive. (via Digsby Blog)

Chi.mp Gets a Little More Useful

Chi.mp

The original service for collecting, connecting, and promoting your digital life just added a few features that should make it worth giving another look in case you forgot. They give you your own domain to host your profile, so there’s not really a good reason not to grab yours. Chi.mp adds a bunch of new features, including:

  • Promote your site with Twitter! Just choose the Preview link on your site and you will find the Twitter logo.
  • Add a personal video or images to your Bio statement. We upgraded the HTML editor which now allows you to use it in your About Me section.
  • Help icons on your Dashboard make navigation to the main functions of your .mp site easier.
  • A new Feedback widget provides easy access to our support desk should you want to ask a question or make a suggestion.
  • Do you know how many people are visiting your .mp site? You can set up Google Analytics and track your network as it grows. Look under Settings for directions.

Chance For Viral Hit Thrown Away By MLB

phillies-dadPhillies fan Steve Monforto caught his first foul ball of the season and gave it to his young daughter, who immediately tossed it back onto the field. After a moment of shock, he hugged his daughter, Emily. It was a touching moment filled with suspense, applause, and probably some tears of joy. It was also caught on video and promptly appeared on the Internet. Rather than using this moment as a chance to go viral and get some valuable media attention, the MLB has decided to kill the video. You can only watch it on their site as they don’t even provide the ability to embed it anywhere. Good job, MLB. Your marketing department is awesome! (via Mashable)
