WWDC 2009: The Big Story

@waynesutton declared in a tweet that he wasn’t going to read another Apple rumor and would wait for the breaking news of the day. I don’t blame him. The Apple rumors are rampant charging everything from new products to the appearance of Steve Jobs.

Interestingly, there’s a shred of truth in every rumor. Most likely there will be one or a few new product launch(es). If one of those products is the mother of all Apple inventions (like the touch screen tablet), and if the past is any indicator, then it could be reasonable to expect Steve Jobs to show up during the keynote address or thereafter to unveil that product. Yep, it’s reasonable and that would certainly be a big story.

Yet, there is the possibility that the big story will be that Apple will create a bigger story from the unpredictable. No Steve Jobs. No new product announcements. No bells and whistles and smoke machines.

At least not today.
