Diddy’s Million Overshadowed by Hashtag

Diddy’s Million Overshadowed by Hashtag

Step aside CNN and Ashton Kutcher, but there’s a new tw-illionaire in town. Sean “P-Twitty” Combs has finally reached the coveted one million followers mark, placing him #2 behind John Mayer on WeFollow’s music list.

Unfortunately Diddy’s twitter milestone was overshadowed by the immensely popular #unfollowdiddy hash tag which has taken twitter by storm. The hashtag’s intention is to get anyone who is following the rap mogul to drop him so that he’d no longer be in the million followers club. The hash tag, which is now reach #1 on Twitter’s trending topics list, has birthed such classics as:

  • justmelody: #unfollowdiddy because Kim Porter never will.
  • jsmooth995: because he never shared his Proactiv with Craig Mack #unfollowdiddy (last one, I promise)
  • jaonyourmind: I #unfollowdiddy because he told Cassie to shave her head instead of Dawn to shave her mustache.
  • And Diddy is making his distaste for the popular hash tag known. He tweeted:

“Damn I didn’t know reaching 1,000,000 would cause a Hater riot!! They have no lives.”

Now all of a sudden people who tweet have no lives? Isn’t that interesting.

Another interesting result of Twitty’s million followers/#unfollowdiddy hashtag saga is that Diddy has now made his tweets private. Users interested in reading Diddy’s tweets are now forced to follow him.

I love the unfollowdiddy movement, It is almost as big as Anonymous.

There were some pretty funny jokes in that #unfollowdiddy hashtag saga. It was like a virtual Friars Club Roast
