Diddy Launches iPhone App

by waynesutton Diddy Launches iPhone App

If you’re already following Diddy on Twitter you may have already seen his tweets about his new album Last Train to Paris and the accompanying iPhone Application. Diddy is the latest Hip-hop celeb to bring his brand not only to social media but to the iPhone. He joins the likes of MC Hammer, Soulja Boy and Lil’ Wayne.  You can check out more of our iPhone app reviews here.

Back to Diddy; taking a slightly different approach the iPhone app is FREE and the Internet Hub for the new album, LastTrainToParis.com doesn’t try to recreate the wheel…it simply and smartly points to his various presences in social media, referring to each as a destination. The iPhone app is no different. While simple it still allows users to interact with it versus just a one-way train of consumption. Users are able to upload their own photos and stories to a train image mosaic, which will be included into a larger, richer application out this summer.  You’ll be able to zoom in, view individual photos, read the stories, and literally be a part of the movement in the upcoming application update. Should be interesting to see what additional functionality is included in the update. Naturally the app also pulls from Diddy’s latest addiction…his Twitter account. What do you think, will you board the Last Train to Paris via your iPhone? More importantly what do you think of the latest swarm of celebs to hop on Tech to connect with their audience and extend their reach?

  • It really does not matter if you have everything in place, the music have to mean something, case in point, Bow Wow, he has a huge following on his Youtube Page, Twitter and Myspace, his album dropped and he moved 18k units, people have to feel involved somehow with the music, that is the only way they feel like buying, they want more, this is the me generation, Me on facebook, Me on myspace, Me on twitter, it is all aboutt he ME

  • [...] them like they want to be treated. If you allow people to post random links to their own website, don’t expect me to allow you to do so on mine. If you allow people to drop four letter words on your community, don’t expect that [...]

  • I agree, people have to feel like buying the music and artist have to do more than just have a large following on social networking sites like twitter, facebook, etc. Artist have to connect with the world using social networking/media but the music has to be good also. I'm no music expert but I feel as though there are only a handful of artist who can sell albums by their name alone.

It will be interesting to see how Diddy's band DAY26 album does being that he has the band members on twitter and creating a lot of negative & positive conversations online from the Making the Band show.

    Thanks for the comment.
