Busta’s Love-Hate Relationship with Technology

The computer has made N*** lazy, the computer has made N*** interact less… its dehumanizing people homey.

Just an excerpt of Busta’s overly exaggerated tirade against the over reliance on technology to communicate. The funniest thing about this is that it was posted to his YouTube account and I watched it along with his interview with 106&Park promoting his Twitter account. Busta’s frustrations are obviously not against technology; instead it’s against using technology to the point where it starts to take the place of true human-to-human interaction.

I know I am more inclined to pick up my cell phone to send a text message than I am to use it to talk to someone, but I have also noticed that thanks to the convince of text messaging, I am now keep connected with more people than I used too. So has technology made us lazy… sure it has, but in the same breath, technology has also allowed us to find more and connect more with the people we care about. Think about it; how many relationships have you formed through social networks? Or better yet, how many of your high school classmates have you wished happy birthday to through Facebook who you may not have ordinarily talked too? Thanks to Facebook and YouTube, I have been able participate in important events in my nieces and nephews lives without going bankrupted paying the airplane fees to attend every event.

So should technology totally replace the human-to-human contact, no, but what a great supplement to it! Just think of what we could miss without it!

  • I completely agree, since I have started blogging and joining social networks, I've met more people that share the same that I share about technology and sports. More so than who I've met in person. Think about it, I walked down Peachtree Street in Atlanta, what are the chances I would meet someone who loved Technology and Sports like I do? It's very rare, but by joining social networks, I've found plenty. Great topic.
