Tiseme.com is like Twitter 2 years ago
by AngelaWhile I love Twitter and Facebook lately I have been getting a bit bored and overwhelmed by them. It seems as if many of my friends on MySpace from years ago have now discovered Facebook and more recently Twitter. I was quite comfortable on those platforms with just us techies and early adopters on it so lately I have been on the search for a new service to play with. Today I think I may have found it with Tiseme (pronounced Tise Me like adverTISE). The service is described as “a universal conversation platform designed to give people the easiest way to speak and share their minds online.” So I know you are thinking “ugh not another service I’ll have to update…” well, this service even in alpha already has Facebook Connect and uses the Twitter API to link your account letting you update your status there as well. It also integrates with Seesmic. In future releases the company plans to allow users to share information, comments, and more directly to those platforms.
There are 3 main features to the platform:
Comment

Commenting gives you the ability to comment on ANYTHING on the web. Any web page or you can highlight text and comment on something specific. It all will come up in your feed and be shared with your followers on the platform. In the future it will be shared with your friends or followers outside of the platform on Twitter and Facebook as well. You can also leave video comments using Seesmic on particular content.

Share

Share anything your find to your network. It will come up in your feed already however the service gives you the option to share via Direct Message on the platform or via email. Email allows you to literally email from within Tiseme to individuals outside of the platform.
Status Updates

You know the drill here…just enter in what you are doing:). The status updates here are much like everywhere else, it will update to Facebook and Twitter and will integrate shortly with Ping.fm.
While the platform is a web app in order to use many of the cool features I mentioned above you have to install the Firefox browser plugin. The plugin is very compact and sits discretely on the bottom of your browser, so much so I barely noticed it was there once I intalled it. Firefox has also been running fine since I installed it earlier today. The plugin is what enables the user to share content from anywhere on the web so easily and also allows notification alerts from your friends where ever you are at in your travels on the web. Lastly, you can update your status directly from the plugin or from the web interface. A Developer API for the platform is on the horizon as well. Tiseme is a 3 man shop with Brandon Powell as CEO, they have raised $300,000 to date.
The site is TBA on an official launch date, it is currently in private Alpha however if you want to give it a try yourself we have plenty of invites, just email us at invites (at) blackweb20.com! Oh and don’t forget to follow me Tiseme.com/ABenton
