This Little Piggie Knocks

Ever since the iPod hit the scene in 2001, swarms of third party retailers have been falling over themselves to get some milk from the cash cow. As a result, the market has been bombarded with an endless amount of accessories. While some should have never have seen the light of day, i.e. the iPod bra, others are actually ingenious.

Case in point, the iPig iPod Dock Speaker system from Amethyst. This barnyard-themed dock gets an A in design. The compact size makes it ideal for tight quarters. The pig motif makes it cute enough for the ladies, yet doesn’t challenge the masculine state of mind. But the real star of the show is the sound. This secretive swine is hiding a total of five speakers , including two tweeters, and a 4″ subwoofer with a bass reflex system and sound amplification technology so you can really feel the music while getting a really crisp sound. It also has 360-degree sound spreading, ensuring that you’ll get the same quality of sound no matter where you sit in the room. This runt of the litter produces an impressive 25 watts of power showing great things really do come in small packages.

The iPig comes with a remote control, that allows you to cruise through your iPod functions and increase bass and treble levels with ease. However, there is a certain tactile pleasure to be derived from tweaking porky’s ears to adjust the volume.

Available in pink, white, or yellow, the iPig is compatible with most iPods including the iPhone as well as pcs, gaming consoles, CD and DVD players. Its small size makes it a great gift for someone who wants good sound quality but maybe doesn’t have the space or funding to get that “melt your face off” dream system. It’s also great for people who want an easy to use, funky looking iPod dock.
