Twitter Elites Visit White House

The Twitter elite made a special visit to the White House on Friday, when site founder and CEO Evan Williams (@ev) joined a summit for 20 young business to owners share new ideas to stimulate the economy. Considering Twitter hasn’t made money yet, Williams himself seemed a little in disbelief about the whole thing, tweeting on Friday morning, “Going to the White House tomorrow for a meeting about the economy (which must mean they’re *really* out of ideas). What should I tell them?” The twitterverse was abuzz all day with suggestions ranging from ideas to support small businesses, to a more resigned, “oh no, we’re screwed.” Along with Williams, Twitter favorites Zappos.com CEO Tony Hsieh (@zappos) and tech investor Chris Sacca (@sacca) made the trip. Sacca took advantage of the visit to ask President Obama when he planned to start tweeting again.

Great post. Looks like President Obama is opening up the gates to the White House and ushering in a new way to ask his supporters for help in fixing the economic mess at hand.

All the best
