D-Nice: True Hip-Hop Stories
by Markus RobinsonLegendary rapper-producer Derrick “D-Nice” Jones has been known most recently for his time spent in the photography/film studio than in the music studios. D-Nice’s most recent project, True Hip-Hop stories, is proof that his time was well spent. True Hip-Hop Stories, is a collection of documentaries chronicling the past and present day lives of Hip-Hop legends including; Sadat X of Brand Nubian, Monie Love, and Dana Dane amongst others. The footage is shot in stunning 720p high definition, and has been distributed through both his YouTube and Vimeo Channels.
In the most recent edition of True Hip-Hop Stories, Sadat X, member of Brand Nubian, discusses his work with Grand Puba, the creation of Brand Nubian, and his subsequent recording of the classic, Punks Jump Up To Get Beat Down. He also talked about the current state of hip-hop and how a year long sentence in prison effected his life forever.
