Not Sure What To Write? Plinky Can Help.
by rahsheenPlinky is a service that dropped earlier today. Let me make it clear that they do not consider themselves a microblogging platform and I tend to agree. While most new social media services focus on giving you a place to put your content, connect with friends, and aggregate content that you’ve created elsewhere, Plinky takes a completely different approach. They are helping you create inspired content and making it easy to get that content from Plinky over to your blog and other social sites.
How does it work?
The concept is very simple:
You sign up for Plinky and create your profile. Each day, Plinky provides you with a prompt, which is some kind of question or challenge for you to answer. Once you’ve created your answer, you can:
- View it right on Plinky
- Post it to your blog with one click
- Share it on Facebook or Twitter
Other users can comment on your answers and even follow you to keep track of your activity.
There are many people who don’t see the point of Plinky. All it does is ask you questions and store your answers. It looks up media for you and provides a link for others to purchase products you reference. I’m pretty sure these are affiliate links to Amazon and such.
All this says to me is that they have found a niche to fill and a way to monetize it. Since the guy that worked on Blogger and Google Reader is the founder/CEO, I’m thinking they might know what they’re doing.
What’s in it for you?
I can’t even count how many times I’ve had people tell me they don’t use social media because they have nothing to say. They want to blog, but they aren’t sure what to write about. They want to be interesting on Facebook or Twitter, but they just aren’t sure what to say. Plinky fills that void for you. Not only does it give you a catalyst to spark your creativity, but it allows your audience to get to know you a little better.
