That ‘McNugget Lovin’ Commercial
by Fredric MitchellSome love it. Some hate it.
To be quite honest, I’ve seen the commercial so many times that I actually sing-a-long with ol’ boy as he gets on his hands and knees and makes a fool of himself. You can’t really deny the marketing machine that McDonald’s commands.
For those catching up, here is the ‘extended’ version of the commercial.
On one hand, they are staple in the Black community outside of their golden arches supplying fatty, but damn good food. Now, don’t even try to lie on yourself about craving some Mickey D’s, but the Black McDonalds Operators Association and its network is rivaled by close to no one.
On the other hand, they have corny, pandering commercials like ‘McNuggest Lovin’ that seem to juxtapose R&B and all-white meat into a 30-second clip.
Well, now, it seems the voice behind this popular commercial wants his shine too. Googling the commercial seems to turn up the question of who actually sings it. If you’ve seen it enough times, you can definitely tell the guy on t.v. is lip-syncing.
Alas, through Facebook, I managed to get a tip on a lowly YouTube video of the artist who wants to get out from behind the corporate shadows and reveal his prowess. Dubbed ‘Who Am I’ and uploaded by the user TheUltimateFamilyBiz, auto-tune is showcased in the video embedded below.
I admire this type of innovation, a la Soulja-boy YouTube grinding. It’ll be interesting to see what he is able to make of it.
