ARHE it Out: New home for African American Sports
Our tip inbox says 2009 will bring in a breeze of Fresh Arhe (pronounced Air). We came across what looks to be a very cool site for sports fans around the world, especially those interested in African-American athletes. And no we don’t just mean basketball or football athletes, we mean ALL athletes, Lacrosse included
The site’s name ARHE is in fact pronounced ‘Air’ and is derived from Arthur Ashe‘s first 2 letters of his first name and last 2 letters of his last name. Clever. Based on the info from the brochure we found on the site it looks like the site could launch as one of the largest databases of information about Black Athletes found on the web. Judging from what is up now, it looks like the site means serious business. We shall see.

Well its definitely something I will be looking out for. Make sure to keep us updated.
@Fredric This site isn’t launched yet at all thats why it says coming soon. We actually got this as a tip and decided to post because we thought it was interesting and different from what we normally get. All please don’t make the mistake of thinking this is launched, clearly it isn’t and is still in development.
I’ll rain on the parade and call ‘whack’ on this. It says Copyright 2007, but it’s still in development? You click through to the developer’s page, and THEIR site is still in development.
Let’s not launch our product until we actually have something to show…..
@Lynne Funny, I said the same thing when I first heard about them. I believe the ESPN comparison is right on, but a little more comprehensive. ARHE will not only focus on current sports events, they also have a large library of historical content (pictures, videos, statistics) that wont find on the major sports sites.
Is it the ESPN of black athletes? or something like that.
No big sports fan myself but I can see how someone could get engrossed in the amount of info they will provide.
