Online Hip Hop Awards

I guess you can say I am disappointed with the Online Hip Hop Awards.  I see a good media partner (MTV Jams), a nice straight forward site, and a good concept: You choose the winners for these awards and we will have live performances etc… and then I see the amount of votes 181,586 and that is over a one month period.  To me that says, there wasn’t enough outreach online for this event.  That is ok though.  The award show hasn’t happened yet.  If the show is good, and they can pull in the Audience, next year there will be more votes (I hope).  The event is sponsored by SOHH (and was the year before as well as highlighted in this trailer) but there is nothing on their homepage to indicate it is happening.

For now, there will be a year in review on the site, that will be there from 11/26 – 12/2.  The live event will take place December 1st, though the website doesn’t list a time.  According to the site, it will feature “presentations and performances by Hip-Hop’s hottest stars live from your web browser”.  I look forward to seeing what happens, and I hope that over the next week they are kicking up their viral marketing campaigns to try to get more viewership for the live event.  I mean, it is an online event so I would have expected to see stuff somewhere.
