Not a necessity, but much like the app Shazam, there's always going to be a need for it at some point. That shop app will not create your total use case, unless you only shop. I haven't used a G1 so i can't speak on it, but i love my iPhone. There are a ton of options on both, I'm a Mac user, so I tend to lean towards Apple products. But the iPhone is well executed and there are tons of apps waiting for you. There definitely needs to be an iphone app that does this. Not a necessity, but much like the app Shazam, there’s always going to be a need for it at some point.

That shop app will not create your total use case, unless you only shop. I haven’t used a G1 so i can’t speak on it, but i love my iPhone.
