Michael Baisden Launches Social Network

by Markus Robinson Michael Baisden Launches Social Network

As if there weren’t enough multicultural targeted social networks online, Michael Baisden today launched his own. I See Color is a Ning based network that gives Baisden’s listeners a chance to interact with the syndicated radio host, as well as the rest of his thousands of listeners. I See Color, consists of content channels covering the latest news in the area of business, relationships, politics, and health. The majority of the content is syndicated from outside sites using a mix of RSS feeds and widgets.

The entire site is a mix of the usual uninspiring drab layout, design, and content we’ve grown accustom to seeing with Ning sites. What is impressive about ISeeColor.com is its rate of growth. Leveraging the power of radio, the site grew from a little over 400 users to approximately over 4,400 within hours of the site’s announcement on Baisden’s show.

HEY MICHEAL AND GEORGE , HOW CAN WE EXPECT OTHER RACES TO RESPECT US WHEN WE DON'T REPECT OURSELVES. WE THINK THAT WE CAN ONLY ACHIEVE RESPECT AND SUCCESS IF WE MOVE OUT OF OUR NIEGHBOHOODS AND MOVE INTO A WHITE NEIGHBORHHOOD. WHY CAN'T WE STAY AND BUILD UP WHAT YOU CALL BLACK AMERICA, ANY WAY WHERE IS BLACK AMERICA NOW. MOST BLACKS GET A LITTLE SOME THING AND THEN THEY FORGET THEIR BLACK, WE TALK ABOUT OUR MEN AND WOMAN LIKE WERE NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR EACH OTHER AND AIR OUR DIRTY LAUNDRY IN PUBLIC ALL THE TIME. MY PARENTS NEVER WOULD MOVE OUT OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD BECAUSE MY MOTHER SAID " WHY WOULD I MOVE SOMEWHERE WHERE THE PEOPLE DON'T WANT YOU THEIR IN THE FIRST PLACE". SHE VOWED NEVER TO LEAVE HER NEIGHBORS SHE KNEW FOREVER. MY FATHER ALWAYS SAID HELP YOUR NEIGHBOR PAINT HIS HOUSE AND HE WILL HELP YOU PAINT YOURS. WE AS BLACKS WILL PUT DOWN OUR OUN LANGUAGE AND HERITAGE TO ACT LILLY WHITE, AND WERE NOT WHITE WERE BLACK. I KNOW THAT EDUCATION IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS BUT WHY NOT BE SUCCESSFUL IN OUR OWN ENVIORMENTS. DESEGRATION TOOK AWAY OUR DRIVE TO STRIVE, AND ACTUALLY SEPRATED US SOCIALLY AND TURNED US AGAINST OUR OWN KIND. WHY CAN'T WE SEE THIS. WE NEED TO QUIT TALKING ABOUT WHO'S PREJUDICE ANGAINST US, AND STOP BEING PREJUDICE AGAINST OUR SELVES, SOMETIMES WE ARE NO BETTER THAN THE PEOPLE WE ACCUSE OF DOING US WRONG, WE DO US WORSE, ESPECIALLY, WHEN IT COMES TO EDUCATING OUR OWN. MICHEAL I REALLY LIKE YOUR SHOW AND ENJOY IT ALOT , BUT WHY MR BASIN DO WE KEEP LOOKING TO SOMEONE ELSE FOR APPROVAL TO BE WHO WE ARE. IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE THIS SOCIETY DO LIKE OTHER RACES AND INVEST IN OUR SELVES AND OUR COMMUNITIES, OH. I FORGOT THEIR IS NO BLACK COMMUNITIES ANY MORE. A WHITE MAN WILL PICK UP ANOTHER WHITE MAN AND HELP HIM IN BUSINESS EVEN IF HE DOES'NT LIKE HIM, BECAUSE HE'S ALL ABOUT BUSINESS, IF THAT MAN CAN MAKE HIM MONEY. THE FIRST THING WE SAY IS I'M NOT SHOPPING THERE CAUSE BLACK PEOPLE DON'T DO BUSINESS RIGHT, BUT THAT SAME PERSON WILL GO TO A WHITE PERSON AND GET BEAT ANYWAY. IF WE WANT INDEPENDANCE IN AMERICA AND RESPECT AS A RACE LETS GO BACK TO HOW WE USED TO BE, NOT STUPID BUT SUPPORTIVE OF ONE ANOTHER. I JUST LIKE YOU SAID ABOUT A SIMPLE NEWS PAPER, WE COULD'NT EVEN PROTEST FOR ONE DAY, AFTER BEING INSULTED BY A WHITE MAN. AGAIN. YES THERE ARE GOOD WHITES BUT I BET YOU THIS, EVEN THEY WILL STAND UP FOR THERE OWN RACE BEFORE THEY LET ANYONE TEAR DOWN THEIR SOCIAL STRUCTURE ,LIKE WE HAVE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN TO US. BLACK AMERICA TO THEM IS THE BLACK GHETTO, AND WE THINK THEY SHOULD REPSECT THAT.WHEN WE DON'T OURSELVES. WE HAVE TO MANY INTELLIGENT BLACK AMERICANS TO KEEP GOING FOR THIS. THEY IMPROVE THER NEIGHBORHOODS .WITH ALL THIS TALK WHY CAN'T WE SIMPLY REALIZE THAT WE CAN IMPROVE OURS. I'M FROM THE OLD SCHOOL I DON'T WANT OT BE WHITE I WANT OT BE BLACK AND PROUD OF IT. I HAVE LIVE IN THE HOOD AS WELL AS THE SUBURBS AND YOU KNOW WHAT. I'M GOING BACK. GOING BACK TO MY FRIENDS AN FAMILY AND PAINT SOME HOUSES AND TALK TO SOME ,WHAT WE REFERE TO AS GHETTO PEOPLE AND TAKE SOME KNOWLEGE BACK HOME SO MAYBE I CAN HELP SOMEONE LEARN DIFFERENT. WE DO'NT NEED ANYONE'S APPROVAL EXCEPT OUR OWN. PIGMENTED PEOPLE OUT NUMBER NON PIGMENTED PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD OVERWELMINGLY , BUT THE FEW CONTROL THE MANY. THEY USED THE BEST WEAPON AVAILABLE DIVIDE AND CONCOUR. LET'S GET SMART INVEST IN NEIGHBORHOOD FUNDS, DO YOU KNOW THERE ARE ENOUGH OF US WERE IF YOU GAVE $100 INTO A FUND FOR OURSELVES A YR COLLECTIVELY WE COULD ACCOMPLISH ALOT ,BUT YOU KNOW WE WILL PAY TAXES TO THE WHITE MAN AND TRUST HIM TO DO RIGHT BUT WE WON'T DO IT FOR OURSELVES, HOW ABOUT A MICHEAL BASIN . COMMUNITY FUND. AND LETS CREATE OUR OWN SAVINGS AND LENDING POLICEIS. THEY DIDI!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S SO HARD TO CONTACT YOU BUT I LOVE YOUR SHOW, AND MY PEOPLE LETS GO HOME. LOOK AT ALL THE RACES IN AMERICA AND OURS IS THE ONLY DIVIDED ONE, HISPANIC ,ASIAN . KOREAN, AND WHOEVER THE ALL STICK TOGETHER. THAT'S WHY THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH MONKEY JOKES , BECAUSE THEY KNOW WE DON'T CONTROL ANYTHING. WE DON'T EVEN RESPECT OUR OWN .

this is about a topic that a young lady spoke on about 3 months ago. she said that black men who prefer light skinned women have a self-loathing problem. i don't agree with that at all!!!! it's all about preference. some men like big{200+lbs}girls, does that mean that they wish they could eat more or that they had more meat on their bones? yeah i'm choklit myself, but i like ALL women. big, small, tall, short, light, dark. NOT JUST BLACK! if the features strike me, game on! i say features because i don't know her but would possibly like to. sounded to me that that lady was a little upset because maybe the person she wanted didn't really find her to be what she thought she was...

Hello Mr. Baiden And Mr. George
I just want to say congrats on your show and I would like to leave a comment on interracial relationships... Well I have been married for 18 yrs and my Husband and I have 4 kids together. My oldest daughter is 17yrs old almost 18yrs on the 15th of February /any way she has a white boyfriend and I couldn't ask for any other for her. He treats her with the upmost respect and the rest of the family also. My younger kids are crazy about him just as well as I am. At the beginning of their relationship he came to my husband and I to ask if he could have our permission to date her. I give him his props on that bcause at this day and time what person ask the parents for permission to take out their child. There are some family members (outside of our home)that don't approve of their relationship ( who cares)lol- everyone is intitled to their own opinion but we raised our kids to love and treat everyone as an equal we dont see color..As long as the individual treats the other with respect love, gentlness and all the above then color shouldn't matter... My daughter is an A student and she attends Paul Lawrence Dunbar Sr. High and she scored over 1600 on her SAT'S(without completeing it) she is very intelligent and has her head on straight so both my Husband and I trust her judgment....
So I feel that color should not matter but their are some lost souls that feels different and I PRAY FOR THOSE INDIVDUALS bcause they are lost inside themselves..
Again Congrats on ur new season and I wish u many many more. My husband And I enjoy listening to you and looks forward for the next to day to hear the show......
thanks for allowin me to leave my comment

  • NoirMedia.net (Noir = black in French) is a website that complements iseecolor. It allows people to post articles that pertain to black folks. The community can vote on their relevancy to the site and comment on the articles.
  • Like any other social networking site it is topical posting, blogging and friends networking with others. I listen to Michael's show here in NY daily since he started here in NYC. The only thing I don't like is that if his show is not on ISEEColor is taken of the internet as well. I did not understand this with the forum either.

At any rate, I wish him luck as he continues to grow. thanks

Where do we go from here?!
    Hi
I am sixteen years old and attend a school in Maryland...I feel the next step for Obama to take is to begin to form new regulations when it comes to trusts, mortages, and stocks because we have not changed our ecnomic regulations since the last recession 50 YEARS AGO..THE GREAT DEPRESSION!! this speaks for itself our economy has defiantly changed since then and new regulations need to be created ASAP! with the help of both republicans and democrats I feel our nation is defiantly capable of creating new regulations that will prevent us from getting in a whole like this again.... (this is why eurpoean countries have managed to pass us)
I feel proud to be a part of this change and Blessed to have parents that are sacrificing and sending me to the Presidential Inauguration
through the People to People Program.

Thank you for keeping all people informed.
(yes my mom acted like a crazy person last night)

    Mr. Baisden;
On Tuesday Nov 4, I was denied by Constitutional right to vote. I am a 54 year old, Black Female. Federal employee (30 years) in the state of
VA. Can you direct me where to go and what I should do. The story is long, but there is nothing on my part that was not done to ensure I could vote. I need help getting this issue addressed. I feel violated.
