The BlackPlanet Universe

Just last week we wrote about OnOne’s short life span and its entering the deadpool (theoretically).  Well, this week Interactive One has made distinct changes to further integrate the bevy of sites they recently launched into their recently acquired BlackPlanet.com.  You will notice that NewsOne, The Urban Daily, Hello Beautiful, and Giant are all now hosted on subdomains of BlackPlanet.com.  One addition to the line-up is a new site called Elev8.  Elev8’s goal isn’t clearly stated on the site (it must be brand new) however it is clearly faith related.

While it may seem like the only thing that was done were a few simple site migrations over to the BlackPlanet.com domain, these minor changes further shows how serious Interactive One really is and prove to be a good move.  With a handful of content sites and a social network that has been described as not much more than a dating site by many, adding content will give BlackPlanet.com members further engagement in the site.  Not only that, it is a necessary move to grow the audience of these content sites by exposing it to roughly 1.3 million unique visitors of BlackPlanet.com.
